INSTRUMENTATION

At the heart of the Island Time Steel Band are the steel pans, expertly played to produce the instrument’s distinctive, melodious sound. Gregg leads the band from behind the Double Tenor Pans, and Tenor Pannist Aaron Cote fills out the higher melodic and harmonic duties. Percussionist Kyle Forsthoff performs the “Engine Room” percussion to enhance the richest textures of the music with the authentic sounds of the Caribbean. The band is rounded out with the electric bass and drum set, allowing for both lively up-tempo Soca dance numbers and soulful ballads, showcasing the band’s versatility. Each member of the group is a very capable improviser, making each performance incredibly unique and creating an exciting Tropical Jazz/Jam-Band atmosphere.
